What is a Social District

A social district, made possible by updates to G.S.160A-205.4 & Chapter 18B, allows consumers to take an alcoholic beverage outside an ABC permitted establishment within a district approved by the local government. The social district legislation was created for restaurants and bars to recoup some of the millions of dollars lost to Covid-19 restrictions.

Map

The Zoo City Social District spans from Sunset Avenue on both Fayetteville Street and Church Street, from North Street to Salisbury Street and Bicentennial Park.
