Redevelopment Resources

Downtown Asheboro Inc. is dedicated to economic development through historic preservation, and our team has valuable resources for redevelopment including:

  •  Historic Tax Credits: In 2022, Downtown Asheboro was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The district includes a total of 78 contributing structures that contain a combination of business, professional, institutional, retail, warehouse and residential uses and structures dating back to 1903.
A 20% federal income tax credit, and a 20% state income tax credit is available for eligible projects.

  • Asheboro Redevelopment Grant: The Downtown Asheboro Redevelopment Grant Program is created to spur economic development in Downtown Asheboro through incentives focused on historic preservation of the architectural character that is unique to Asheboro.  *Currently unavailable at this time.

  • Free Historic Facade Designs: Through a partnership with North Carolina Main Street and UNCG Department of Interior Architecture, fellows of the NC Main Street program provide design assistance for storefront rehabs and the adaptive reuse of upper story commercial spaces to downtown living apartments. These projects involve a mix of archival research, fieldwork documentation, and digital design work, using a variety of design software programs.

Are you ready to take on your next historic rehabilitation project? Contact Executive Director, Addie Corder for more information about the forementioned programs and available properties. â€‹
