Downtown Asheboro Celebrates America250

As part of our efforts to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, The City of Asheboro has announced a series of events and initiatives as part of the America250 movement. Last week, the City Sign Shop installed new Revolutionary Randolph, NC banners lining the streets of downtown! Residents and visitors can look forward to these additions that honor our nation’s history and spirit.

Upcoming Events:

“The American Constitution” Documentary Screening Join us at the historic Sunset Theatre on Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m. for a special screening of The American Constitution. This compelling documentary brings to life the creation of the U.S. Constitution through the voices of leading scholars and a talented cast portraying the Framers during the summer of 1787 in Philadelphia.

Following the one-hour film, attendees are invited to stay for a discussion with filmmaker David Garrigus. This event is hosted by Revolutionary Randolph, Randolph County’s America 250 NC Committee.

America250 Movie Fest at Sunset Theatre Celebrate American history and culture through film during our America250 Movie Fest at Sunset Theatre. All movies are free to attend, and concessions will be available for purchase.

• Wednesday, July 1 – Pearl Harbor at 7:00 p.m.

• Thursday, July 2 – Selma at 7:00 p.m.

• Friday, July 3 – A League of Their Own at 1:00 p.m. and Rocky IV at 7:00 p.m.

• Saturday, July 4 – National Treasure at 10:00 a.m., Captain America: The First Avenger at 1:00 p.m., and Jaws at 7:00 p.m.
