ASHEBORO, NC- Downtown Asheboro Inc. proudly names John N. Ogburn III as Asheboro’s Main Street Champion for 2023.
The Main Street Champion Award is presented annually to someone who has made extraordinary contributions to their downtown community. John has been a tireless advocate who has invested in and reimagined downtown Asheboro since January 2001, when he became City Manager of Asheboro. He has placed particular emphasis on the revitalization of downtown and providing city involvement and support in downtown events such as the Christmas parade, Christmas Downtown and other events over the last 20 years. He has also spearheaded efforts to beautify and improve downtown in both large and small ways - improved signage, hanging baskets, expanded holiday decorations, the renovation of the historic Sunset Theatre, and a NC Zoo animal themed crosswalk program are just a few examples.
